I so love this...Ive wanted to do a portrait of a cicada emerging from shell since childhood...what a beautiful and rare capture!

Thanks, Alexandria. Actually I have to give credit to my daughter for finding this one. We watched it for a long time, coming out of its shell and slowly going through some pretty dramatic changes. We were very lucky!

This has a wonderful duality to it! I hear them all the time in the Summer of Georgia. I have never actually seen them, and its like they know when it is going to get hotter!! Then they are quiet when the rain comes here.
