Bloomfield, NY
I am a 1977 graduate of Cornell's School of Architecture, Art & Planning with a BFA in Fine Arts, majoring in painting and printmaking. Upon graduation I received the Goodwin Sands Memorial Medal for "exceptional merit in art". After a long hiatus, I have recently resumed my art career, currently concentrating on digital photography.
I live with my family in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, and have enjoyed finding and capturing the extraordinary beauty in and around our 50-acre property. This setting affords a rich variety of subject matter from which to draw inspiration, from expansive vistas to the tiniest of natural details. I am particularly excited by light and shadow, and water in all its forms, especially how it influences the things it touches. I especially delight in finding abstract compositions in minute subject matter, and then blowing them up to a grand scale. I enjoy photographing the natural world, finding beauty in small and unusual things, and creating interesting compositions from what I find.
In addition, I enjoy choosing uniquely colored borders for my photos. I find that they greatly enhance the image, however they can be cropped off with matting, if desired.
