Artist's Description
This image was taken during a photo shoot on the shore of Canandaigua Lake in mid-May. I was struck how the receding hills on the right balance out the treed land mass on the left,and the delicate dock structure in the center ties them together. I was lucky that there was a fairly strong wind blowing that day, which completely unfurled the American flag on the far left. Despite the wind, the image has a calming effect.

I am a 1977 graduate of Cornell's School of Architecture, Art & Planning with a BFA in Fine Arts, majoring in painting and printmaking. Upon graduation I received the Goodwin Sands Memorial Medal for "exceptional merit in art". After a long hiatus, I have recently resumed my art career, currently concentrating on digital photography. I live with my family in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, and have enjoyed finding and capturing the extraordinary beauty in and around our 86-acre property.
