Artist's Description

I happened on this little owl, who had apparently just left the nest. I wouldn't even have noticed him as I walked by, but for all the noise he was making with his raspy voice and the clicking of his beak. His parents were very upset, calling loudly, and flying from branch to branch in the canopy above. After I took a few pictures, I left him alone for a while. When I went back later to check on him, I was relieved to see that he was gone, and there was no sign a struggle, not even any feathers. He must have flown away to safety.

I am a 1977 graduate of Cornell's School of Architecture, Art & Planning with a BFA in Fine Arts, majoring in painting and printmaking. Upon graduation I received the Goodwin Sands Memorial Medal for "exceptional merit in art". After a long hiatus, I have recently resumed my art career, currently concentrating on digital photography. I live with my family in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, and have enjoyed finding and capturing the extraordinary beauty in and around our 86-acre property.
